This illustration has a rather macabre story of inspiration… I was driving along a road through the woods, and to my surprise, witnessed a scene of furry manslaughter between a field mouse and a rather aggressive squirrel. My first thought — “I wonder how that poor mouse is doing…”. Survey says: not well.

It was really fun playing with watercolors and colored pencils to create this piece…maybe there will be more “Anxious Animals” to come — perhaps a collection!

Feelings of Yellow | mixed media collage | 2022

‘Feelings of Yellow’ is a mixed-media painting that bridges art and psychology and aspires to stimulate both the “right and left brain” of the observer. This piece uses color theory and imagery to invoke emotion and influence perception through brush strokes and collage work.

Part of an ongoing series, this work aims to invoke joy and positivity through the color yellow and the use of seemingly everyday objects featuring yellow’s tones.

Autumn Cottage Framed
autumn cottage | watercolor on arches paper | 2021

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, I chose to create this painting of a dainty fall cottage using bright watercolor paints and pencils for detail. The idea for this piece came from a fall “snowglobe” concept that popped into my head one day. The trees were fun to do; the scribble-method is definitely one of those “looks terrible before it looks better” types but I love the way it came together. I could picture this style in a children’s storybook.
